A romantic weekend away has turned into a busy working bee this morning as a group of Betootans attempt to check out from their AirBnB.

Hoping to escape the bustling hub of our regional metropolis, The Advocate understands Mei & Tim Dixon and Sara & Lara Simpkins ventured out to the nearby McGuigan Valley, the Diamantina’s thriving wine region just three hours north of Betoota.

A popular hotspot for wine tours, hens parties and price gouging private taxi services, the McGuigan Valley is a premier destination for cashed up yuppies hoping to frolic amongst vineyards and maybe splash $600 on a morning hot air balloon.

However this morning, as they nurse headaches caused by spending 48 hours drinking red vinegar, the weekenders got a rude shock realising they had to essentially prepare the AirBnb as if it was about to be sold in an auction.

“Fck they want us to clean the gutters!” Tim yelled across the kitchen, as he read the ‘Guide To Check- Out’ laminate that was stuck to the fridge.

“Apparently we have to borrow a ladder from the neighbours!”

Looking around at his three friends who were all battling hangovers whilst furiously cleaning the place, Tim realised that this would be the last time he’d ever spend his weekend cleaning some boomer’s 10th mortgage.

“I miss the days when we just had to empty the bins?” Tim’s wife Mei called out from the bathroom, as she laboured to remove every speck of soap scum from the glass with a non-scratch scourer.

“Yeah I just had to wash down all the venetians…” wailed Lara, as she emptied a bucket of grey water into the kitchen sink.

“Next time we’re staying in a hotel!” Tim huffed, “I’d rather catch bed bugs in a Best Western than spend my morning in gardening gloves.”
