Going on a holiday may just be the best way to reduce your carbon footprint as long as you ignore the whole ‘air travel’ thing.
All along idyllic tourism hotspots, innovative eco hotels are paving the way for a future where travellers at least feel like they’re making a difference when buying an $8 bottle of water and reusing the same towels.
Never has the future looked so bright than in the new Betoota eco hotel, Green Sands Resort, who take their environmental message to a near militant level.
“As you can see there is no full flush, only a half flush,” stated resort manager Phillian Grey in the press release the PR agency sent us that this reporter is just lazily copying.
“But if it’s yellow you better let that sucker mellow. We have detectors built in, solar powered of course, and if they see that you flushed an innocent wee then the police will be notified and you will be responsible for the cost, police time and carbon both.”
Throughout the rest of the press release, Grey showed us around the other Green Sands facilities which include pedal-powered elevators, cinema which only shows Al Gore docos and a restaurant which won’t let you order a new meal until you finish last night’s leftovers.
“During Friday night dancing our limbo pole actually moves up to represent rising ocean levels. It makes it less fun for sure, but it’s safer than when we made the pool level rise and all those Americans sued.”
