It’s a beautiful morning south of The Tweed and north of Wagga Wagga.

The sun is shining and the weather is sweet, after the underperforming heroes of Australia’s shittest state finally managed to win a game of Origin.

Turning up to rip in like they didn’t when it counted in the actual games that mattered, NSW took Game 3, 24-10.

While it technically was a dead rubber, and you could tell the Queenslanders were just enjoying a week hanging our with their mates, NSW decided to give the dead rubber all they’ve got.

And, while on the scorecard it’s 2-1 to Queensland, NSW has decided to actually just claim the win.

The claim comes after the New South Wales coach Brad Fittler deciding to claim the win based on the ‘Spirit of Origin.’

That theory is borrowed from England’s ‘Spirit Of Cricket’ model, whereby you can simply decide if you ‘feel’ like you won the game.

Speaking about utilizing the principle, Brad Fittler told The Advocate that he actually feels like NSW won the series.

“I mean, if you look at the fact we were winning with 10 minutes to go in Game 1 and we won Game 3, we actually feel like we won the series,” he said.

“And if we didn’t let in like 30 points in Game 2, we probably could have won that too.”

More to come.
