An Australian bank has shown their human side today by agreeing it is a total bummer one of their customers got scammed and wishing there was some way they could help.

As one of the holy trinity of Australia’s most hated institutions, banks control a good deal of everyday life by influencing the never ending push and pull caused by the importance of money in a capitalist society. 

By providing a safer place to store your savings than under your mattress, banks provide customers with the peace of mind that their money is safe, as long as you can forget about them doing fuck knows what with it while you’re not looking.

Security measures aside, scammers are still able to untraceably scan and skim bank cards, fleecing Aussie families out of thousands of dollars and worse yet, embarrassing banks in front of their customers.

This situation played out for Betoota couple Wendy and Frank who had $3000 fraudulently taken from their bank account with the Central Australian & Regional Northern Territory Bank (CARNT Bank). 

“Oh did they? That’s really not on,” responded CARNT Bank when the customers who have paid 20 years worth of fees expected something for their money.

“Gah! That’s so frustrating for you! What a bummer!”

“Cheers for telling us. Don’t know what you want us to do about it though, I mean, it is your money afterall.”

“Unfortunately, the status of the fraudulent transaction is still pending so we can’t open an investigation right now, it’s sort of like how you can’t look for a missing person until it’s been 24 hours.”

“It is so a thing, they say it in movies all the time.”

“No I’m not suggesting you did it yourself, I’m just asking you to prove that you didn’t, which you can’t. As I’m sure you can agree this whole situation really really sucks hey?”

“I’ll tell you what, since you are such loyal customers we will look into waiving the $20 Just Got Scammed fee. How does that sound?”
