A Brunswick woman is today lapping up the Antarctic temperatures sweeping across Melbourne.

With Australia’s most European city currently being battered by some mild autumn European chills, the inner city resident says she’s making the most of the winter cold.

“It’s always good to have an excuse to bust out the winter wear,” laughed Ashley Wilson.

“The outdoor mushroom heaters are fired up across cafes, bars and restaurants so it’s time to rock the new puffer.”

“It’s perfect for hiking and the outdoors,” said Wilson, who went for a walk in Albert Park a few weeks ago.

Speaking to our reporter from a random aisle of BCF Preston, the furthest out of the inner city she’s been in a while, Wilson said she’s ready whenever her and her boyfriend do head out to the Grampians.

“It comes in handy in big high ceiling cold shops like this,” she laughed while her outdoorsy boyfriend entered his second hour of browsing outdoor gear.

“I’ve lost Phil,” said Ashley in regards to her boyfriend.

“He’s like a kid in a candy shop here with all the different bits and bobs that catch his eye.”

“He loves his fishing trips away with the boys.”

While their Saturday outing is starting to drag on a little, the young creative from one of Melbourne’s gentrified suburbs said there’s worse places to end up on a weekend.

“Last time we came here, I picked up this new Macpac puffer,” she laughed.

“Because, see, Phil ends up buying all this shit for our camping trips that he isn’t in a position to question me picking up a nice new piece of clothing for myself.”

“Chess not checkers,” winked Ashley.

Reporter’s note. Phil was later located alive and well, with a significant haul of gear and a depleted splurge card.

More to come.
