A local girl has managed to satisfy her craving for chicken nuggets this afternoon after pulling off a crafty manoeuvre at the pub.
As a bachelorette in her early thirties, primary school teacher Karly Cookster has discovered that the easiest way to catch up with her mates with kids is to meet them at a big family-centric gastro pub.
Especially if the pub boasts a two-story car park and a giant outdoor play area.
It’s because of this that Karly found herself at Sunday lunch last weekend with four of her besties and their partners at the Half Acre Hotel on the shore of Lake Betoota, a hospital sized pub that has two sports bars, an undercover courtyard, a micro-brewery, a children’s rock climbing wall and TV room with eight PlayStation 3’s (four of which are functioning).
After watching her friends coach their little brats off to the playground, Karly turned her attention to the giant laminated menu to decide on some grub.
Stuffed after enjoying a big brunch earlier that day and uninspired by the sound of arancini balls or lamb skewers on the adults entree menu, Karly set her sights on the children’s menu and the chance to indulge in six crumbed chicken nuggets and a generous pool of tomato sauce.
Having come into trouble in the past for ordering from the ‘Kids’ section, Karly decided she’d wrangle her best friend Donna’s pram while she was busy breastfeeding her new bub ‘Tylur’.
“Mind if I borrow this?” said Karly, confident she’d sourced the perfect prop to pull off the daring move.
Throwing a baby blanket over the canopy of the pram, Karly rolled up to the bar with a feigned huff like a busy parent.
“Yeah I’ll get the nuggets thanks!” Karly asked the server, so committed to the act she pretended to push the pram back and forth to ease the stress of her non-existent bub.
“And that comes with the free ice cream yeah? I’ll do the caramel sauce thanks. Extra sprinkles too”.
More to come.
