A local bride-to-be has spoken to The Advocate today about why she’s chosen to get married on a random Wednesday in mid-August.

Anna Grace-Harward, 28, has been eying off dates for a wedding ever since her full-time root Ryan Hayes got his knee dirty over Christmas, and asked if she’d like to blow $50,000 with him on a single day of pomp and ceremony.

But with the majority of good venues across the Diamantina already fully booked for the peak season weddings across October and November, Anna has told The Advocate she’s decided to book Pickled Pig Estate on Wednesday the 14th August, because they could do a good deal.

“Yeah Pickled Pig are keen, they have slipped me in with a mid-week special!” Anna told our reporter as she began adjusting some cells in her Excel spreadsheet.

“All of Ryan’s family will have to fly up from Melbourne, but they should be able to get cheap flights to QLD cos it’s mid-week.”

However after further probing, we can reveal the timing of Anna’s big day also can be attributed to her hopes that an August wedding will fall right in time for her guests to be cashed up post tax return.

“Yeah it’s a good time for a wedding, I feel like everyone will have the funds to splurge,” said Anna, as she begun adjusting her gift registry, swapping out a pod coffee machine to a fancy one that grinds real beans.

“We’re trying to be as courteous as possible, that’s why right in the middle of August, when school holidays aren’t on seems to be the best for everyone.”

“Also it’s a child-free wedding so that’ll make it easier for all the interstate travellers!”

More to come.
