Although weddings are the tax you pay to avoid loneliness, some couples believe tying the knot shouldn’t involve bankruptcy.
Case and point, Betoota couple Sally and Rodrigo are organising their wedding with just a teeny budget by modern standards, $900 million.
The engaged couple are hoping that their scrimping and saving will leave them with some remaining money that they can spend during the lifetime they are publicly committed to sharing together.
What Sally and Rodrigo haven’t told their guests is that the savings don’t apply to them as they will be picking up a good deal of the spendings slack.
“So it’s a Aslabrian tradition that guests bring a plate to the wedding,” Sally told her guest via Facebook events hoping none of them Googled the alleged tradition or the country Aslabria.
“It’s also tradition that guests bring their own table runners too as well as one for the gift table.”
According to the young couple, they have received some financial aid from their parents but only for the dress, suits, venue, catering, makeup and flowers.
“We thought everyone can just take turns being DJ so hopefully someone doesn’t mind sharing their Spotify premium. At some point I might also have to announce that everyone is the photographer too…”
When asked if they thought it was a bit rich to expect guests to chip in so much and provide a gift, Sally told our reporting team ‘yes probably’ but ‘the good thing about weddings is people can’t say no to you.’
The interview was then immediately concluded when reporter Louis Burke was invited and then immediately asked if he had any experience as an MC.
MORE TO COME.
