The Australian Broadcasting Commission has today taken a step outside the box, and confirmed a sensational pick as the new host of Media Watch.

The show famous amongst media people across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and a couple of offices in Perth has revealed that it’s appointing a man from North Queensland to the gig.

Julian Assange has reportedly been given the role, just 24 hours after being released from prison in the United Kingdom.

The hot seat that has any media people working on a Monday night crowding around the office televisions, will be given to the founder of Wikileaks after Paul Barry revealed he was walking away a few weeks ago.

Barry has been the host of Media Watch since 2013, with many feeling the wrath of the Oxford tongued Englishman – including this very paper who has been accused of peddling false information.

It’s believed Assange history in calling out the media’s coverage of certain events as well as his ability to secure quite embarrassing footage and information was the clinching factor in the new role.

He’s expected to take up the role if he’s plane makes it from the US territory of Saipan after pleading guilty to one charge of felony for stealing US military secrets.

The plea of guilty secured his freedom in a deal with the US government who still hasn’t quite gotten over someone revealing the shit they get up to on foreign soil.

Assange is now set to depart for Canberra, but as part of the plea deal has been forced to catch a Boeing plane over the Pacific.

More to come.
