Local Italian man Gianluca Roberto Bianchi (39) has confidently proclaimed that it is absolutely prohibited to ever put pineapple on pizza while also defending the act of wrapping rock melon slices in prosciutto.
The Italian hospitality worker that finished off what he describes as a ‘calm’ 90-hour work week, spoke to The Advocate to defend his position.
“You know, I think it is totally wrong to have a pineapple on a pizza, you Australian’s are disrespecting our cuisine”
Despite Gianluca’s vocal claims that anyone who enjoys some pineapple on their pizza simply doesn’t understand Italian cuisine, he seems to ignore the fact that his hatred for fruit paired with savoury items isn’t that consistent.
While sitting down with The Advocate, Gianluca began slowly wrapping chunks of rock melon inside prosciutto strips.
“No, no, no, this is very different” Gianluca professed.
“This is a tradition, wrapping sweet melon in salty prosciutto goes back centuries, which makes it totally fine”
When pressed on whether or not that maybe it was ok to just enjoy food with or without fruit, Gianluca briefly choked on his chinotto before he continued on a passionate rant.
“You Australians, you don’t understand the beauty of food and you disrespect our cuisine! You have no tradition and no culture! You are worse than the Americans!” He said before storming off.
