A local family has again been reminded that their 60 year old Bachelor French Quarter Uncle, Jeremy, is in fact a wanker.
The reminder came after a casual family catch up when Scott (34) , a nephew of Jeremy, brought up the exhilarating past month in the sporting world in an attempt to involve his uncle in the family dialogue.
“I mean surely he’s got something to say about Origin or Euros.. seriously? Not even Wimbledon? I thought he liked that tennis stuff”
As the family continued on with the extremely welcoming and easy to comment on topic of discussion, they turned to their uncle to hear what he had to say.
As the family waited in anticipation for their uncles take as he momentarily took a sip of his Pinot Noir, he smugly proclaimed,
“I don’t much care for sport, I am keeping up with Le Tour though, I wouldn’t expect you guys to understand or anything.”
As the family conversation was put to an abrupt end, the circle of men were plunged into a deep awkward silence that only Jeremy really seemed comfortable in.
After what seemed like an eternity of staring at the floor, Michael, Jeremy’s brother sighed and asked;
“Well can you at least explain to us what Le Tour even is, Jeremy?”
After swishing around more wine in his mouth to “enhance the flavours”, Jeremy allowed himself to lower himself to the rest of his family’s level.
“It’s just a nickname for the Tour De France, you know, the biggest cycling race in the world – you do realise it’s one of the most viewed sporting events in the world, right?”
As some members of the family couldn’t help but let out audible groans, others were simply curious.
“What channel is that even on?” Asked Luke (14), another one of Jeremy’s pleb nephews.
“It’s on SBS, the greatest channel that has, and will ever exist” Jeremy proclaimed.
