The national literacy and numeracy results are back, and it does not look good for the schools it usually doesn’t look good for.
The annual test sat by over a million kids in year 3, 5, 7 and 9 has proven once again that roughly 1 in 3 schools are povo as shit and left behind by the relevant national, state and territory funding.
Unsurprisingly, the yearly results have shown that schools in mostly low socio-economic areas have failed meet literacy and numeracy standards.
One in three Australian school students is not meeting literacy and numeracy benchmarks, with at least one in 10 needing proper help with their learning – as the famous promise not to leave any child behind becomes more and more of a fanciful Labor pledge.
The famous Labor pledge fading into the history books comes despite a Labor government being in power at a federal level as well as in the 5 most populous states and the two territories.
While there are a number of factors contributing to the poor performance of hundreds of thousands of kids, it’s believed one of the main ones is the fact that funding for regional and outer metro schools is no were near adequate.
“Yeah unfortunately these shit schools don’t get enough funding, there aren’t incentives to get enough teachers there and the support framework for them is piss poor,” said a spokesperson for the Labor Party.
“That’s just the way it is.”
“The solution to this problem is for people to pay to send their kids to a good school or a buy a property in a good catchment area.”
“Be the change you want to see and stop expecting us to actually make a difference.”
More to come.
