In an unexpected twist amid Melbourne’s rental crisis, a South Yarra girl has caused quite the stir in the Facebook group Fairy Floss Real Estate with a novel approach to sub-letting.
Emma Miller (27), is looking to sub-let her bedroom for a few hours while she ducks down to Prahran Market for her weekly almond croissant, an oat flat white.
“Chic room available for a few hours, in a gorgeous light-filled apartment in South Yarra, just a stone’s throw from cute cafes and a pilates studio” her listing proclaims.
The room, described as having “aesthetic decor” with a wardrobe full of “Henne and Kookai” is aimed for those craving a slice of luxe living, even if only for a fleeting moment.
Emma’s friends are both amused and impressed by her creative response to the rental crisis. “It’s peak Emma,” said her friend Rachel. “Who else would think to sub-let their room for a quick market run? Iconic!”.
“I thought it’d be a fun experiment to see if anyone’s willing to pay for a mini stay. Plus, it’s a great way to cover my coffee and croissant cravings.” Emma said.
“An added bonus if they can help revive my dying monstera” Emma laughs.
More to come.
