Recently divorced 65 year old Grant Fowler has once again reaffirmed his admiration for the culture, food, and traditions in the land of smiles, Thailand.
After a yet another trip to the South East Asian nation, it appears that Grant has once again spent time exploring the beauty and diversity of Thai culture, in a trip that would have Anthony Bourdain himself asking for recommendations.
While sharing the office kitchen yesterday morning, 23 year old Eliza Wu, a co-worker of Grant, was lucky enough to hear all about the expedition after daring to make small talk with the 65 year old.
“Yeah my trip was great, you’re Chinese right? Absolutely love the Asian culture, Thailand’s amazing” Grant exclaimed to the 23 year old people pleaser.
“Started in Songkhla, great place, bit off the beaten path, not as many annoying rules as the big cities, there’s also a crazy golden statue of a mermaid on the beach.. great place..”
“Then I hired a private driver up to Phuket, I’m way too old to be sharing a bus with the locals” Grant explained.
“Phuket was great as usual, been there a million times. Love the food. Pad See Ew? You heard of that? I’m sure they have that in China”
“Then we ended in the bright lights of Bangkok, didn’t really get up to too much.. I’m an old fella now y’know? Just popped into a couple bars, that’s about it really..” Grant explained to the 23 year old.
Grant, who even learnt a few phrases in Thai such as, “how much?”, is proud that even at such a late stage in his life he still has the courage to explore far off parts of the globe.
“You know a lot of these blokes that are still married are totally brainwashed into thinking life is over” He explained.
“Best thing I ever did was get divorced Eliza! I can go to Thailand whenever I want and no one can bloody stop me”
Bizarrely, Eliza quit her job that day and was not available to make a comment on the office kitchen interaction.
