What started as a simple attempt at winged eyeliner for Jennifer Gallo quickly spiraled into an unintentional tribute to the late singer Amy Winehouse.
The 27-year-old Marketing Coordinator had intended to add a subtle flair to her evening makeup routine before heading out to an underground bar in Betoota’s French Quarter. However, after 20 minutes of painstaking effort, she found herself staring at a reflection that bore a striking resemblance to the soulful British singer.
“I was just trying to do a little flick, you know? Something subtle,” Jennifer explained, still clutching her liquid eyeliner pen.
“ But I had this massive wing on one side, so I tried to even out the otherside, but it just kept getting bigger and bigger. Next thing I know, I’m looking like I’m about to ask Valerie to come on over.
Jennifer’s housemate, who witnessed the transformation, was the first to point out the striking similarity.
“I walked in and thought she was getting ready for a fancy dress party,” said her housemate. “I mean, the beehive was missing, but otherwise, it was spot on. She could’ve fooled anyone.”
Despite the unintended look, Jennifer decided to embrace it. “I figured, why not just lean into it?” she said, ruffling through her drawers to find a bandana for her hair.
