In a dramatic twist that’s left local real estate agents and career advisors scratching their heads, local woman Sophie Hart (29) has announced that she’ll need either a rich hubby or a serious promotion before even thinking about home ownership.

Currently renting a modest unit with two housemates in Betoota’s French Quarter, Sophie has expressed her growing frustration with the housing market.

“I’m not saying I’m opposed to working hard,” Sophie explained, sitting on the couch with her housemates, sipping a glass of red wine and scrolling through property listings she can’t afford.

“But at this point, it’s basically marrying rich or getting a job that pays millions.”

Her frank take on the situation has sparked plenty of discussion with her housemates.

One housemate, Emma, thinks Sophie’s being a bit dramatic.

“I mean, it’s tough, but there are options,” she said. “Get an apartment or something. You’ve got to start somewhere.”

Her other housemate, Chloe, believes Sophie is just being realistic. “Honestly, she’s not wrong. The way things are going, you’d need a miracle or a millionaire to get anywhere near the property ladder.”

The trio spent the rest of the wine-fuelled evening debating whether home ownership is even worth it anymore. Sophie, now contemplating whether to give up on the idea altogether.

“Maybe I’ll just become a digital nomad and move to Bali”, Sophie sighed.

More to come.
