In some breaking news from the deep far south east of Queensland, David Crisafulli has put the town of Ingham back on the map!

The regional town from the deep far north of the state is now back in the big time after seeing their homegrown product, Mr David Crisafulli surge into the Premiership.

A town known for being home to hardworking rural Italian families that keep their heads down, Ingham has only really been known for two things, Sugarcane and salami.

Now, it will also be known as the cradle for political leaders, with Crisafulli set to take office this year after 3 terms of Labor government.

This comes after Premier Steven Miles called Crisafulli this morning to concede defeat, after refusing to call it last night.

He’s now the biggest thing to come out of the town since big bad Sam Backo.

One of the greatest Indigenous players in rugby league history, the noted enforcer now has some help carrying the town on the state and national level.

Crisafulli joins fellow Ingham boy, Nick Dametto, in Parliament. Although, Dametto stayed up north and joined the Katter Party.

It is no surprise that such a small town has produced parliamentarians in such a broad range of parties.

Politics in the surrounding area has always been wildly unpredictable.

They were once the only electorate in Australia to elect a member of the Communist Party, when the local migrants and Aboriginal community got sick of being paid indentured wages for the backbreaking work of cutting sugarcane.

The fact that a vast number of the Italians had family members then had been interned during WW2 also leaves the people with an engrained anti-authority attitude.

It will now be seen how the big fella governs the state, with youth crime and abortion apparently the biggest issues facing the people.

More to come.
