The New Zealand Tourism Office has announced a new promotional event designed to attract global attention. Jake the Muss, a legendary figure in New Zealand culture, will face off against American social media star and boxer Jake Paul in a fight to be held in the carpark of the East Tamaki Tavern on March 19 next year.
The event, dubbed “The Battle of the Jakes,” aims to showcase New Zealand’s unique character and community spirit. Tourism officials have offered Jake Paul $400 and a free meal at the tavern following the fight. Jake the Muss will receive $200 and a bar tab, regardless of the outcome.
“This isn’t just about the fight. It’s about putting New Zealand on the map for its grit and hospitality,” said a spokesperson for the Tourism Office.
Jake Paul has already begun promoting the fight on his social media channels, calling Jake the Muss “another broken old man I’m going to bash.”
However, locals have been quick to caution the American fighter.
“Jake Paul looks like he’s been doing too many weights, not enough speed work,” said one East Tamaki resident.
“This isn’t a fancy arena in the US. It’s a pub carpark, and that’s a whole different game.”
The fight is expected to draw both local spectators and international interest, with the Tourism Office banking on the carpark clash to provide a unique snapshot of New Zealand culture.
Tickets for the event are on sale from next week, with demand expected to be high.
More to come.
