A woman who was finally able to have a consultation with a psychiatrist has unfortunately found herself positively radiating this morning, momentarily forgetting that not too long ago, she was a very sad girl.
Having originally booked an appointment two months ago when she was in the grips of poor mental health, Jasmine Travers, 28, was all smiles as she bounced into Betoota’s Grimley Mental Health Clinic to talk to Dr. Spencer about her crippling depression, which felt almost impossible to do, given how nice the jacaranda trees are looking today.
However, knowing her pattern, which was scheduling an appointment, feeling happy by the time it rolled around, cancelling, and then feeling depressed a week later, Jasmine decided she’d stick it out this time – even though all those dark moments felt like a thing of the past.
“You know how women’s minds apparently make them forget the pain of childbirth, so they eventually have another one?” asks Jasmine, “well my brain does that, but with depression.”
“I’ll be the saddest I’ve ever been, and then a week later, it’s like I’ve completely forgotten?”
“I feel like a fraud. Why can’t I ever have an appointment when I’m having a crisis?”
“Look at me, I’m glowing.”
More to come.
