A local woman yet again finds herself fighting the feminine urge to completely remove herself from civilisation and live in the forest, where she’ll spend her days reading by the fireplace in her stone cottage and cooking stew, while inciting tales of fear and whimsy from nearby villagers who fear she may be a swamp hag.
Citing her growing despondence at the state of the world and fear of growing old in a society that values youth and beauty, Tilly Marsden, 32, says that the call of the wild grows stronger every day.
“Do you remember the intro for the Beatrix Potter series, where she’s painting on an easel in the lush English countryside and it starts raining so she has to rush back home to her cottage?”
“That’s all I want. But like, mixed with The Holiday.”
“So foxes and deer, and Jude Law appearing at my front door.”
Looking out the window wistfully, Tilly says that unfortunately her desire for ‘soft living’ can only be achieved with obscene levels of wealth, which means she might actually be an old swamp witch by the time she could afford a cottage.
“Or I’d have to go to Tasmania.”
“Hmm..no thanks.”
More to come.
