NSW Rugby League have today confirmed that they are still very much the NSW Rugby League.
This follows the revelations that they will be appointing former NSW coach Laurie Daley to the top job in 2025.
Laurie famously lead the NSW Blues to that one series win in 2014, the one they won after losing the previous 8 in a row, and then proceeded to lose the next 3.
Given that stellar record as coach of the Blues, many south of the border have been left scratching their heads.
“Why the fuck don’t we just let Mase take charge,” said one Sydney based rugby league fan a short time ago.
“Or even let the Johns brothers run it together, that would be fun, and at least we can pretend we didn’t think we’d actually lose next year.”
Given Willie Mason is one of the few men south of the border to understand the concept of State of Origin football, questions are being asked as to why he was overlooked.
“Big Mase would whip em into shape and build a dynasty,” sighed the Sydney based league fan.
“Get Scope and Reni in there as assistance coaches.”
“Take the boys up to the Railway Hotel and give em a skin full until for an extended bonding session, and then make em spew their guts up on the training paddock.”
“Imagine the pre-game rev ups too.”
“Anyway, maybe in 2026.”
While Laurie Daley orchestrated that famous drought breaker in 2014, he was also the man behind some of the most shocking collapses in Origin history, something which gives Queenslanders great joy.
“Oh no, what a shame,” smirked local man Billy Smith a short time ago.
“That’s a seriously astute and scary pick from NSW. I don’t give us a chance next year.”
