In a move that has stunned the influencer world, fulltime daughter and partime fashion blogger Isabella Greene (24) has boldly condemned the fast fashion industry, calling on her followers to instead invest in the high-end, sustainable alternatives she herself has been enjoying for years—thanks to her dad’s credit card.
“I just can’t in good conscience support companies that exploit workers and harm the environment,” Greene declared, as she sipped on an organic cold brew in her eco-friendly bamboo straw, wearing a dress she purchased for $1,500 from a ‘sustainable’ designer brand.
“The only solution is to stop supporting fast fashion. You really just need to get your dad to buy you the expensive stuff from ethical brands. It’s so much better for the planet.”
Isabella, whose family wealth comes from a long line of “middle management in the mining industry”, said that while she understands the struggle of her followers—who apparently don’t have trust funds or access to their parents’ offshore accounts—she believes everyone can live a more sustainable life if they “prioritize sustainability”
“I know it’s tough,” Isabella continued, “but instead of spending your money on Zara or H&M, just ask your parents to invest in a high-end sustainable wardrobe. It’s really not that difficult. And I’m sure you can find some vegan leather sneakers on sale at your nearest boutique, which is way more ethical than fast fashion anyway. Like, why don’t people get it?”
Her comments have sparked mixed reactions, with some praising her for “raising awareness” while others question the practicality of living a sustainable life if you’re not a member of the global 0.01%.
“Clearly, it’s all about conscious consumption,” she concluded, striking a pose for her Instagram followers. “And by conscious, I mean consciously choosing the most expensive, ethically sourced items money can buy.”
