JB Hi-Fi employee Ryan McDonald has made it abundantly clear that while his knowledge of household appliances is practically nonexistent, his expertise in Green Day’s discography is top-tier.
It all kicked off when a customer asked Ryan for advice on choosing a blender. Ryan, who couldn’t tell the difference between a blender and a food processor, scratched his chin thoughtfully before casually suggesting, “Honestly, mate, you’re better off getting a record player.”
When the customer, clearly perplexed, asked why, Ryan responded, “What’s going to make you happier each morning? A smoothie or listening to Green Day’s 1994 punk rock masterpiece Dookie?”
This question sent Ryan into an impromptu lecture on why Dookie is Green Day’s greatest album.
“Look, sure, American Idiot was their most commercially successful, but Dookie,” he said, holding up a vinyl copy like it was a sacred relic, “it speaks to the frustrations, anxieties, and apathy of youth – it’s timeless”.
Ryan, who claims to have never used a blender in his life, continued raving about Green Day while the customer, clearly defeated, wandered off toward the computer section to escape the unsolicited musical critique.
“I just feel people need to appreciate real punk music,” Ryan said.
“As for the blenders… yeah, mate, you should just Google that.”
Ryan was later spotted discussing Dookie with a customer looking at TVs.
