As workplaces around the country begin to close down for Christmas, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has issued a message to all Australians ahead of the festive season
“Whether it’s a bush Christmas or a secular Christmas, I hope you all enjoy this time with your families.” said the PM.
“You may not start the day with a church service, you might not have a Christmas tree, but the spirit of Christmas means to be merry and surrounded by loved ones at this special time of the year”
While Albanese’s attempts to spread Christmas joy and unity were generally well received by the public who follow his social media channels, his words are still too positive to get picked up in the Australian media cycle.
That was until Peter Dutton took issue with it.
Opposition Peter Dutton has today said he won’t be celebrating Christmas this year, because he finds the entire concept divisive to ordinary Australians.
But he’s not talking about the religious aspect, he’s talking about the relentless DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) that is forced upon him when engaging with the story of Christmas.
“Of course Prime Minister Albanese would dedicate so much time and energy to celebrating the birth of a Palestinian socialist”
“I don’t even care if Australian churches want to present him as blonde-haired and blue-eyed, which he clearly would have been. It’s the fact that the woke left champion this man as some sort of saviour that I find most unpleasant”
These comments follow Peter Dutton’s most recent efforts to stoke the culture wars last week, when the Liberal Party leader vowed to no longer stand in front of Aboriginal flags. But he says Christmas is beyond the pale when it comes to identity politics.
“I mean it says a lot of the current government when these are the types of people they call heroes.”
“A man that surrounded himself with prostitutes and the beggars. A man that said nobody should go hungry, no matter how little they worked. His message is one of socialism, and one that alleviates anyone of any personal responsibility”
“Born to a homeless mother who didn’t even know who the father is. Just box tick after box tick. It’s woke rubbish and Australians are sick of it”
