The world is today breathing a sigh of relief, after Russian President Vladimir Putin made a shock announcement.
The authoritarian leader of one of the world’s largest oligarchys has revealed that he will be withdrawing his nation’s troops from the neighbouring nation of Ukraine.
Surprisingly, the welcome decision to end the war in Ukraine comes after Putin reportedly decided to tune in to the Australian Open.
Taking some R&R from doing his best to help himself and his billionaire mates out, Putin was apparently watching the tennis down under, when he saw the shocking erasure of the Russian flag from his TV screen.
The insertion of a blue flag next to the name’s of the Russian players on tour then led the President to finally call and end to the bloody war.
“It brought me to my knees,” said the noted former KGB man.
“To see our nation reduced to a blank blue flag at a tennis tournament on the other side of the world.”
“They sure know how to hit us where it hurts.”
When asked why the flag tactic hadn’t had an effect earlier in the war, Putin explained that he hadn’t being watching the international coverage in previous years.
“Of course, the Russian coverage always has Russian flags,” said Putin.
“But I just thought I’d mix it up, and I was horrified with what I saw.”
More to come.
