Experts say the brief ban on the American operations of social media platform Tiktok has brought about the return of other forgotten platforms, like Tumblr – and everything that comes with that.
Tiktok, which went dark for all American users over the weekend, has seemingly engulfed most of Gen Z and Gen Alpha over the last year.
The apparent demise of the platform in America left a generation of internet users without a home.
It’s been reported that throughout the last 24 hours, Tumblr welcomed millions of impressionable young people, hungry for a toxic community to be a part of.
Many millennials – who thrived under the Tumblr days of the early 2010’s – have cautioned that Gen Z may be playing with fire if they continue down this path.
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..” explained former Tumblr girl, Lina Tisdale (32).
“They were also the cringiest times of my life by a mile”
“Edgy black and white photos of really skinny girls smoking Marlboro reds in bed with a Lana Del Ray song playing over the top”
“I mean I loved that. I still love that. But good god it was so cringe” explained the millennial woman.
Parents are already being warned that their once fun loving, TikTok dancing children could soon be transformed into emotionally turbulent, mysterious Tumblr users who spend weeks perfectly curating their blog with cryptic images and the lyrics of nihilistic love songs that they are too young to truly appreciate.
