The world has let out a collective, melancholic sigh – as the US government and TikTok do a 180 on their US ban.

This has lead to the triumphant return of over 100 million American TikTok users to the platform after only 24 hours off-grid

The world, particularly the non-American, English-speaking world, says that the 24-hour ban on Americans was a time of peace, love, and levelled conversation.

“It was a day I will remember for the rest of my life,” said Philomena (30), a Canadian TikTok user.

“It was amazing being able to do dry comedy on the platform without having Americans in the comments taking it seriously,” explained Imogen Heap (25), a British user of the platform.

“We were actually kind of relevant for 24 hours. It was crazy,” said Liam (33) from Australia.

The ban, which was pushed largely by Republicans, was quickly reversed once it went into place, also largely pushed by Republicans.

The US government has been uncharacteristically transparent about why the ban was so quickly overturned.

“Americans love their little treats, and TikTok is the biggest treat of them all. We cannot continue to extract their wealth if they don’t have their treats. It’s very simple, really,” explained an anonymous member of the US government.

It’s being reported that in just 24 hours of non-American TikTok, there was an unprecedented amount of global cooperation and cultural exchange.

With the return of 170 million Americans to the platform, the rest of the world resumes slowly explaining to Americans what Celsius means and where Africa is on a map.
