EDITORIAL
I am voting for Peter Dutton at the 2025 Australian election. Here’s why.
The current economic situation in this country has made it harder for people, people who are dependant on the courage and service of business owners, to make ends meet.
From the printing room floor to the editorial executive of this masthead, requests for pay rises and allowance extensions have grown louder and louder. This is largely because of interest rates, inflation and rent going up and up.
Labor caused these problems in our economy by engaging in wanton qualitative easing during the pandemic, where nearly $10bn was paid to companies in the form of JobKeeper that didn’t even need it. Remember when JobKeeper was going to cost $300bn one week then $150bn the next week? At this election, we have a chance to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Because of this, Labor tanked the housing investment market by making interest rates go up and stay up. Not to mention inflation still increasing. We are in a great mess and this mess was created because of the miss management of the economy between 2007 and 2013 and 2022 until now.
Which brings us back to what Peter Dutton is going to do to help people like me.
With the Liberal Party’s landmark business lunch policy, I can reward key staff with an opulent meal at the local cafe in lieu of giving them a slice of the profit that their labour has produced for me. When you increase a staff member’s pay, you become liable for other, hidden costs. Like paying more for their superannuation. Paying more taxes. It’s always worse for the business owner.
But here is the trick, Peter Dutton is working to make the worker vote for him, too. A master stroke. If we can get the mouth-breathing, disposable workers to vote for the same person as the business owner that employs them, that is conservative nirvana.
I don’t have to share profits with them, I can just fill them up with Chinese food and send them back to their shanties.
That profit, I can take to Mercedes Benz, where I will trade it for a 2025 Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Coupe. Well, I will be leasing it.
I will be leasing it with the savings I will get when Peter Dutton wins the election, where instead of a pay rise, our workers will get a BLT and an iced coffee. But only if they’re good.
