In breaking news from your weekend social feed, balloon archways are really having a bit of a moment.
This story comes as several young couples in Betoota hard-launched baby-bumps over the weekend, as the great baby boom of 2025 continues to gain momentum in the opening months of the year.
It’s especially good news for Betoota party supplies store ‘Sparty Pants’, who’s told The Advocate business is booming thanks to the rush of baby showers and shotgun engagement parties.
Speaking to store owner Trevor Bunting from his shed in the West Betoota industrial estate, business has never been better.
“We’ve been totally smoked off our feet this year, everyone’s coming in for archways and arbors.”
“I’ve gone from having two helium tanks on standby, to eight of them firing on all cylinders every Saturday and Sunday morning!”
“And don’t even mention the Lebanese weddings, as soon as we get an order for one of those, the tanks are running full blast for the whole week!”
And with local bowling clubs, scout halls and cafes with big lovely decks filling their event booking spaces, the commercial cake business has also been doing quite well.
“Yeah my daughter was studying midwifery, but once she cottoned on to how much she could charge for a sponge cake with blue or pink icing, she dropped out and got straight into commercial baking.”
“She’s charging north of $150 for a Betty Crocker straight out of the box, plus an extra $20 for delivery”
“And I’ve also got the young bloke now running a balloon installation business for all the daft dads-to-be who don’t know how to use some scissors and a cable tie.”
“This baby boom is filling our family with millionaires!”
