A local Betoota accountant was left absolutely devastated last Friday night, after reportedly booking a room at a karaoke bar that didn’t have the Killers song ‘Mr. Brightside’ available to sing.

Jose Barton, a 28 year old CA working at an accountancy firm in Betoota Hills, was reportedly thrilled when everyone at his End Of Financial Year drinks finally listened to him for once and decided to go to the underground karaoke place around the corner that’s open till 4am and always has Korean soap operas playing instead of music videos.

However, Mr. Barton’s delight soon turned to anguish, after he discovered that the establishment he had been so keen to visit did not have the song ‘Mr. Brightside’ available to sing along to.

“It was honestly one of the worst moments of my life”, said Mr. Barton in an interview this morning. “To go from such joy to such pain so quickly – I don’t think anyone’s ever felt something like it”

“It made me upset, and, if I’m honest, a little angry. I mean, what kind of karaoke place doesn’t have Mr Brightside?? What kind of absolute a social singing venue has ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’ as their only Killers song??? Sorry, I’m getting worked up just thinking about it”

Mr. Barton was allegedly very vocal in his displeasure at the circumstances, with several eye-witnesses recounting that he demanded the situation be rectified immediately.

“He kept trying to put the song on using the YouTube app on his phone to get everyone to sing along” said one anonymous bystander. “No one was really listening though, they were already singing ‘I Would Walk 500 Miles’ at that point”.

The heart-rending incident took place last Friday, amidst the annual End Of Financial Year celebrations that Mr. Barton’s firm put on to commemorate another successful year of making money for other people and missing out on their children’s birthdays.

“More than anything, it was just an absolute disgrace to the good name of EOFY”, said Mr. Barton. “No one wants to see a holiday as revered and venerated as that be disrespected like that”

Despite the tragedy, Mr. Barton’s mood reportedly improved as the night went on and he had more cheap beer to drink.

“I was alright in the end. I found out they had ‘Wonderwall’, which definitely salvaged my night”
