An anti-social local man with impaired empathy has spent the morning portion of his public holiday Monday driving about town in his late model convertible – with the top down listening to a popular podcast about a local serial killer.
Complete with very descriptive and detailed accounts of the killer’s sadism and violence, Martyn Harris said he didn’t understand why it might be perceived as ‘weird’ to drive around listening to podcasts with the roof down.
Never the less, our reporter spoke to another local man about his run-in with Mr Harris this morning on the corner of Willis and Carter in Betoota Grove.
“So this bloke pulled up at the lights in his convertible, a big smile on his face and the sun on his back. I thought he looked like a bit of a spoon, like a wanker but each to their own, I guess,”
“Anyway, he wasn’t playing The Eagles or anything like that, something you’d expect to hear coming out of a convertible being driving by some crusty old prick. He was playing a fucking podcast about some guy killing people,”
“I only caught a snippet before the lights changed but it was very, very grim. Something about a body being crammed into a barrel or something. Fuck South Australia is a strange place. Wines, Aussie Hip Hop and bodies dissolving in barrels. Yuck!”
However, Harris has defended his choice to drive around listening to true crime podcasts with the room down, saying it’s a free country.
“Part of being a psychopath is having zero empathy or remorse for your actions so of course, I don’t care what anybody thinks of me,” he said.
“It’s a gorgeous day out here in our great south-west so I’ve got the roof down. What’s the point in owning a convertible if you’re not going to use it? And I love true crime podcasts, if you don’t, you’re fucked in the head.”
