In a sensational move out of Queensland this morning, Wallabies coach Michael Cheika has today confirmed a big name signing.
Rather than announce that WonderKid Kayln Ponga had signed on to the slowly dying game of Rugby Union in Australia, the Wallabies boss confirmed that they had poached someone else.
In a huge move for the game ahead of the Rugby World Cup, Cheika revealed that Senior Sergeant Daren Edwards has signed with Rugby Australia as a Defence Coach.
This comes after the Queensland Cop and former Redcliffe Dolphins player made an exceptional one on one tackle with a ‘serial pest’ yesterday afternoon at a press conference in Maroochydore.
The textbook tackle has impressed the nation, with his feat spreading quickly across social media at home and abroad.
Cheika told reporters this morning that he moved quickly to make the signing after seeing the footage.
“Look obviously there would have been a lot of clubs chasing his signature. The Broncos to do some work with their fullback on one on one tackles. The Bulldogs to do some work with their entire team.”
“So I made sure to lock up the lucrative signature immediately.”
“I haven’t seen a tackle like that since a fully fit David Pocock was wrapping em round the boot laces.”
“That mouthy bloke in the Liverpool jumper wouldn’t have been able to get an offload away there even if he wanted to.”
“That’s exactly the kind of steel that will win us a World Cup.”
