A young office woman named Jess Hudson has had to do a bit of explaining today.
The young publicist was forced to convince her colleagues that she wasn’t moving a bit on the side.
This comes after she was caught dumping a couple of her old phones into the mobile recycling bin in her office.
Noticing the recycling of the old, all cracked phones from her last few years of hedonism, a colleague from across the desk from her became suspicious.
“Lot of phones there Jess, what’s going on?” laughed Charlene from accounts.
“Bit of a side hustle going on hey?”
Sensing the opportunity for a bit of fun, other colleagues decided to get involved in a good old fashioned Monday morning pile on.
“What you selling Jess?” laughed her 53-year-old manager Trevor.
“Will you do mates rates,” he asked before bursting into stitches.
Laughing the appalling office chat off, Jess decided to clarify her actions just in case some boomer listening in actually got the wrong idea.
“Ah sorry I’m getting around the Mobile Muster and recycling my old phones like a good citizen of planet earth Trev,” she said.
“And for any of you who are actually unsure, if I was selling merchandise would I bring my phones and chuck them in the bin?”
“It’s good chat though from all of you. But you should be giving me shit for the fact I can’t go 12 months without destroying one of these communications devices worth a week’s salary,” she laughed.
The conversation then pivoted back to some reality TV show that was on the night before as harmony in the office was restored.
Today’s Mobile Muster marks the start of Planet Ark’s National Recycling Week – if you’ve got one of the estimated 25 million old phones gathering dust around the country, do your bit to get them in a recycling bin.
