A local Year 12 student almost caved in and downloaded the Government’s COVIDSafe app last month but baulked due to security concerns.
Today, the prolific TikTok user feels vindicated in her decision not to follow the crowd and put that dodgy, useless application on her phone.
“They said they were going to release the source code,” said Glenda Matthews, a final year student a St Albastine’s School in Betoota Grove.
“And they didn’t. To be honest, I just don’t trust the government. All they do is lie. That’s why I didn’t download it,”
“Now everyone is saying it’s pretty much useless and hasn’t caught one case of the boomer remover yet. And it’s removed a lot of boomers – and heaps of their parents, too. That’s sad because unlike the boomers, their parents actually contributed to our society in some way and left it in a better condition than when they found it. Anyway, is that all you wanted?”
Our reporter shook their head and asked the 18-year-old if they were worried about the recent, proven security flaws in TikTok and that it’s largely accepted now that it’s essentially a data farm for the Chinese government.
Glenda said no.
More to come.
