The Prime Minister has told popular country boy Michael Slater to stick to what he knows and let the experts make decisions on things like India.
Speaking to the media this morning in Rockhampton, Scott Morrison said while Slater was a great fullback for Queensland and the Melbourne Storm, he shouldn’t stick his nose into the world of international politics.
“I am a fan of Michael’s,” said Scott.
“And I respect his opinion but in this instance, I think it’s the incorrect one. It’s very easy to sit on the sidelines and throw peanuts, it’s very hard to be in the jumpseat between the pilots, making the calls. You know what I mean?”
“Michael Slater should stick to rugby league and let me make calls on India. That’s what the people of Australia have elected me to do and that’s what I’ll do. I make tough calls to protect Australians. Michael got caught on holidays and India and how he’s upset. He’s in the Maldives, which I understand to be like India’s Port Douglas so he’s getting so sympathy from this simple old man from the Shire!”
Slater, who has a track record of being incredibly unpredictable both on and off the cricket ground, has yet to respond to the Prime Minister.
The Advocate has reached out to Mr Slater’s management for comment but have yet to receive a reply.
