A former Prime Minister has sent the news cycle into a meltdown this afternoon, after making a sensational two-word comment.
“I’m Back” was the titanic statement issued by former PM Tony Abbott this morning.
Those words arrived exclusively on The Advocate’s newsdesk this morning, prior to his press conference, and signal Abbott’s desire to have another shot at winning over Warringah and Canberra.
The faxed handwritten letter beeped through a short time ago, confirming the return of the title-winning politician from Sydney’s North Shore.
The confirmation arrives after months of rumours swirling that the man who held the Warringah electorate for 25 years might make a comeback.
Now official, it’s believed the former Prime Minister will make his return against Zali Steggal on whatever day the election is most optimum for our current Prime Minister.
The incredible comeback comes following an ill-fated stint in Minor League Baseball, where Abbott played for the Birmingham Barons and the Scottsdale Scorpions.
The move initially raised eyebrows given his success in politics and failed to live up to his expectations with Abbott only managing three home runs, 51 runs batted in, 30 stolen bases, 114 strikeouts, 51 bases on balls, and 11 errors.
That chapter is now over though, with Abbott returning to what he does best, representing the financially conservative North Shore of Sydney and blindly espousing ‘traditional family values.’
When asked for comment about the return, Abbott refused to answer any questions, simply nodding his head before telling us we had been given ‘the answer we deserved.’
His media advisor then told us that all we need to know is on that letter, and they’ll see us soon.
The move now spells the end for Gladys Berejiklian’s tilt at federal politics for now, with hopes she doesn’t get charged criminally and can take over in 4 years time.
His Scottie Pippen, who currently works at Sky News has been contacted for comment.
More to come.
