A local woman in Betoota’s French Quarter is reeling today, after a curious interaction with her local postie.
Speaking to The Advocate out the front of the Hairless Motorcycle cafe down the road, Jess Blicavs said she received a bit of a rude shock this morning.
“The postie just called me by my first name as I was walking up the street,” explained the avid Afterpayer.
“He greeted me and waited for me at the door of my house with the package,” she sighed.
“I obviously recognise him because he brings me nice things all the time, but for him to greet me like a friend and not one of the few hundred people he sees every week is a bit concerning.”
But today, that changed for the young lawyer.
“He just recognised me and called out ‘Hey Jess, only one thing for you today.’”
“Which is a bit of a weird one, that I’ve made that much of an impression,” she laughed.
“Well, I have tried to save myself going into one of those shopping centres for my Christmas shopping by loading up on the Black Friday deals,” she said reflectively.
“Oh well, it’s always nice to make a new friend,” she laughed.
“I guess I owe it all to my team, The Iconic and Afterpay,” Blicavs explained of her new first name basis relationship with the Postman.
Blicavs says she now has to consider whether she’ll ask the smiling father figure who knocks on her front door a few times a week his name as well.
“Probably not. He does seem like a nice old man, but I hate small talk and it’s already enough that he calls himself the Afterpay runner,” she laughed.
“The reality of this modern world hey”
“He’s gonna be seeing a lot more of me though with the Christmas shopping cut off period being Wednesday”
“Anyway, I’m late to work. I gotta run.”
