Although gotcha journalism has suddenly fallen out of vogue, that didn’t stop opposition leader Anthony Albanese from struggling when met with a standard question.
In a press conference earlier today, Mr Albanese was outlining his plan to end offshore detention by turning the boats back when a journalist interrupted the opposition leader to ask him a standard question about life in 2022.
“Albo, if you can, what is the track listing of the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album?” asked the journalist, pretty certain he was doing a good job for someone only four days on the job.
One of the best selling bands of all time, alternative rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers are known for combining funk and punk with endless mentions of their home state of California.
Although reviews for their 2022 album Unlimited Love have been mixed, the 1.2 million Australians who identify as fans of RHCP are as excited that guitarist John Frusciante is back in the band – as they are let down by Albo’s response.
“I…uuuh…well Black Summer that’s the first one,” stuttered Albo, who might just be the only person in the division of Grayndler who can’t answer the question.
“I want to say the next one is either about California or cunnilingus?”
A bunch of journalists then started chortling before Albanese admitted he didn’t know the whole track list.
More to come.
