A bloke who often gets his mates kicked out of licensed venues has been praised today, for showing a thoughtful sign of respect for the sanctity of marriage.
Benji “Bendo” Edwards, a 29-year-old air-conditioner repairman from Betoota Ponds, is believed to have received pats on the back from all of his friends after he refrained from rolling out any ‘Persian Rugs’ until both sets of grandparents left a wedding.
“It’s really good of him, he sure showed his maturity today,” said Hayden Carter, one of the key groomsmen at the affair.
“Benji’s always the first one to get the sniffles on a night out, if you know what I mean, so the fact he held back until well after the First Dance was a sign he’s really grown up!”
A well known party animal, it’s believed Benji’s invitation to join the reception of Sarah and Matthew Rodgers at the Betoota Race Course came with a strict caveat from the bride’s family, who were well aware of his reckless antics.
“When Matt said he was thinking of giving ‘Benj’ a late call up, half of us thought he was mad!” said a close friend of the couple.
“Everyone knows Benji can cause big trouble at open bar type event, in fact I think he has a 10 year barn from this very function centre so I’m surprised he got in at all.”
Speaking to the Groom at the event, a recently wedded Matthew told our reporter some strategic table placements also helped settle his reckless mate, who once got a tattoo of Steve Irwin on his left ass cheek.
“I put Benji on a table with my boring work mates and my religious cousins, hoping they’d keep him in line.”
“And I guess it kinda worked, although now that the speeches are done he’s free to let loose, can’t keep him caged forever, it’s not his wedding!”
