There’s long been a saying that you can’t run away from your problems, and a Betoota man has proven that today by somehow coming second to them in a marathon.

Nathan Kook (30) is has entered the stage in his life where he thinks doing marathons and triathlons will make up for the previous 15 years of poor decisions and treating his body like a general waste bin.

But as his personal demons have shown him today, you can’t hide, and you definitely can’t outrun them.

The Advocate caught up with an out of breath and defeated Nathan at the end of the Betoota Marathon to see how he was coping.

“[inaudible puffing]”

“Sorry, let…me…. catch…my…breath” he managed to get out while hunched over with his hands resting on his knees.

“I’m pretty disappointed actually”

“I didn’t even know demons could run marathons, but here we are”

“I tried to run away from mine and they beat me”

“If that’s not a sign to give up, I don’t know what is”

At the time of press Nathan was last seen playing a game of dog-bowls with himself at a nearby pub.

More to come.
