Australia’s river towns are on their knees praying this weekend, as monsters rainbands spread across the eastern seaboard.
After a year of relentless flood and rain, Australians are once again preparing for the worst ahead of the five-day rain event that has already begun lashing the eastern states.
As images of battered buildings cars begin to flood in, the universally shared sentiment across the nation is ‘fuck here we go again’ – as defeated Australians begin sandbagging.
And the big wet will only get wetter, it has been confirmed.
Sydney broke its annual rainfall record yesterday – picking up more than 100mm between early Thursday and 5pm – with 68 days still left in 2022.
It’s annual total is now greater than 2.2 metres for the first time in more than 150 years of data.
On top of all this, we can expect that snow will fall as low as 600m in Tasmania on Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Which is just completely normal for October.
MORE TO COME. STAY SAFE
