Opposition leader Anthony Albanese is in Queensland at the moment but this weekend, he says, he’s got his Marrickville Californian bungalow to himself and he and Toto are going to have themselves a time.
Attending a press conference this morning with Labor’s candidate for Bowman, Donisha Duff, the Member for Grayndler explained that he’s excited to pick the seat up at the next election.
“Donisha is the perfect candidate,” he said.
“So yeah. Love it up here. Anyway, it’s been such a busy day. I kind of zoned out speaking to my chief of staff a minute ago, I was daydreaming about this weekend coming up. I’ve got the whole place to myself from Friday lunch to Monday night.”
He raised his eyebrows.
“This weekend is grunge weekend. I’ve got a little baseball bat I got from one of the groundsmen down there at Royal Marrickville. I’m going to listen to a few records, make a ragu and then while it’s in the oven, I’m going to smoke half. It’s just green and Christ knows what it is. It stinks so I reckon it’ll do just nicely. Then I’ll probably just go for a bit of a walk along the fairways of Royal Marrickville with Toto, the headphones in. A few hand waves but yeah. Might have to wear some sunglasses. I’m looking forward to touching all the different things, such as bark and the cool leaves,”
“Come home, take the ragu out and finish off the bat in the backyard. Then I will proceed to demolish half the ragu with some pappardelle. Early night then hill sprints on Sunday.”
More to come.
