A Betoota Heights couple is trying to let one another know that they both have a lot on at the moment without explicitly saying what it is.
Wendy Galhooley and Roberto Goink have a year-and-a-bit-old son called Ricotta. Ricotta is a bit of a handful – but most children are at that age, according to Roberto. Wendy laughed as our reporter informed her that’s what Roberto thinks.
“He would,” she said.
“He doesn’t have any of the mental load that women have when it comes to looking after a child. He just comes home from work, plays with him for a bit then wonders where dinner is. Then he tells me something about some footballer being injured or kicked out of the team or getting suspended and seems annoyed when I don’t care. They’re in his made-up team or something. I don’t care,”
“Whatever it is, it can wait. He can go outside and cook some chops on the Weber or better yet, put Rick to sleep!”
With the many suspensions and up-and-down form of the game’s greatest players, Roberto has been very stressed this week trying to put together a team that represents both exceptional value and high performance.
Our reporter explained to Roberto that Wendy is feeling overwhelmed with her childcare responsibilities, as well as running their 3-bedroom Hotondo dogbox that’s currently got more defects than a French Bulldog.
“I don’t know why she feels stressed, she doesn’t have a job,” said Roberto.
“I’d love to be at home playing with Rick all day. We have to call him Rick in public because you should see people’s faces when they say, ‘Oh, is his name Richard? Richard Galhooley-Goink is a lovely name!’ and you have to go, ‘No, sorry, his name is actually Ricotta. Yeah, no tricking,’ and they just look at you like you’ve done a poo on the floor in front of them,”
“My SuperCoach is doing my head in. It’s all I think about. I can’t believe Damien Cook got dropped. I have him up the front. I can’t afford anyone better. He represents outstanding value. He’s the only one putting in for Souths at the moment, too. After they dogged Reynolds, this is what they deserve, anyway. Mate, I could go on for hours. This is a mental load.”
More to come.
