A local woman who bookended a trip to Europe with a long July weekend in London came to the conclusion that she could actually live there.

Strolling the streets of Chelsea on a 28 degree day with a gentle onshore wind in her hair, Betoota Heights public relations account manager Kelly Douglas explained to The Advocate that it was really nice and she had a great time in London.

“I was staying with a friend in Chelsea, she has this flat that like has it’s own private park in the middle of this square and like everyone gets their own key, like one per flat, and it’s their private park,” she said.

“We had the best weekend there, like we went out to the pub every night. Saw all the sights during the day. We could actually walk to most places but getting the tube to see some other friends was also so fun,”

“Only once did my friends have to remind me not to have my phone out for too long because people ride past and rip your phone from your hands! How funny. We certainly don’t have that at home in Queensland!”

Over the course of the interview, it became apparent that Ms Douglas didn’t venture wider than Zone 2. Didn’t go further east that the Tower of London. Not any further west than Kensington Palace. No further north than Paddington Station where the Heathrow Express dropped her off. She didn’t go south of the Thames at all.

“London is so nice. If I moved there, I’d probably try to live around Chelsea or Sloan Square or Belgravia. I wonder how hard it is to get a job over there?”

More to come.
