The New South Wales Police have had more brutality accusations levelled against them this week and in response, a group of constables in Sydney filmed themselves doing a Harlem Shake video that the force hopes will “break the internet but in a good way”.

Yesterday in Sydney, [redacted by legal] was arrested for [redacted by legal] by a couple of [redacted by legal]. The arrest was discontinued shortly after the [redacted by legal] slammed [redacted by legal] head into the ground. Because of the actions of the two [redacted by legal] the [redacted by legal] now has a broken face and a bleed on the brain.

As an elderly [redacted by legal], the use of MMA-style [redacted by legal] to arrest them is what’s attracting the criticism.

In response, the NSW Police issued a statement that directed people to the Force’s TikTok page where a group of officers performed a Harlem Shake.

The Harlem Shake is an Internet meme in the form of a video in which a group of people dance to a short excerpt from the song “Harlem Shake”. The meme became viral in early February 2013, with thousands of “Harlem Shake” videos being made and uploaded to YouTube every day at the height of its popularity.

Speaking to the media today in Sydney on an unrelated subject, Police Minister Paul Toole expects the ongoing internal investigation into [redacted by legal] getting their brains [redacted by legal] by two [redacted by legal] will get to the bottom of it.

“There will be a full investigation into this matter,” he said.

“In the mean time, have you seen [laughs] I’m sorry, it’s just so funny [laughs] that video of the policemen dancing? Go check it out.”

More to come.
