A silly old bastard from Betoota Heights has written into The Advocate today saying he’s always supported Nick Kyrgios and anyone who says anything to the contrary will get a crisp jab across the chin and a boot up the doot for good measure.
Despite not being contacted for this story, 56-year-old retiree Darryl Gawn felt it necessary to share his opinion of the rising tennis star that he definitely hasn’t said anything bad about in the past.
Mr Gawn spoke to our reporter through the ballistic shield that separates the reception area and our Daroo Street newsroom.
“He’s a top bloke, that Kyrgios,” said the man once convicted of tax evasion.
“I’ve always been behind our Nick. Anyone who says I haven’t will get put on the floor by me.”
At this point, Mr Gawn started to get visibly angry.
“I’m just saying,” he said.
“I’ve always loved Nick and if you reckon I haven’t, then we have a problem.”
Mr Gawn began shadow boxing as Clancy walked into the room.
“I’ll fucken knock your block off, mate,” he said.
Clancy laughed.
“You think this is funny? Come out here, you big bastard. I’ll fucken knock your block off, mate. You’re fucking done, I’m not afraid of you.”
The Advocate’s security officer arrived shortly after that exchange and escorted Mr Gawn from the premises – but not before pointing out Clancy’s white Rav4 hybrid in the car park.
Mr Gawn booted the side mirrors of it in an athletic display of danger then left.
More to come.
