With the advent of things like ‘OK Boomer’ separating the younger and older generations more than the latter’s blatant disregard for our planet’s wellbeing, a recent incident shows we may not be as different as we hoped.
Executive assistant Maddie Gunn (20) was using a crossing in Betoota CBD when she was nearly hit by a courier cyclist, uttering a phrase many are calling out.
“Fucking cyclist,” mumbled Gunn to herself.
“They should have to wait at the crossing like everyone else.”
Gunn’s disapproval for cyclists has caused outrage in the Boomer Community (Boomunity) who state Gunn is trying to appropriate their culture.
“Our culture is NOT YOURE [sic] GODDAMN nuisance!” stated one Facebook commenter on a post unrelated to Gunn’s use of a well-known boomer term.
“Do you even know wher [sic] that term COMES FROM!???!!1!?”
Following public backlash Gunn immediately responded saying she did not wish to offend the Boomunity, as easy a thing as it is to do.
“I didn’t know that was an important part of the Boomunity so I will stop criticising cyclists. I will also refrain from telling the person at the checkout about my day and reminding people about the temperature on a hot day.”
“Additionally, I will stop telling my younger relatives they spend too much time on their phone and then ask them for help with mine eight minutes later while telling them the music they listen to isn’t real music.
“I will also no longer raise my entire arm out of my car window to thank the driver behind me who I actually cut off and had no choice but to let me through.”
“I will even go as far to never ruin a BBQ ever again.”
The Boomunity is yet to respond to Gunn’s claims as they are unsure where the ‘Sent’ button has gone on the iPad they mainly use to play Candy Crush.
