Those who make up the population of our closest capital city have today been urged to pull their finger out.
With the Maletildas heading to town for a crunch World Cup Qualifying match against China, residents of Adelaide have been told to get off their bums and support the boys.
With the nation’s favourite sporting team on a seemingly endless run of sold out home games, football fans have been urged to put their money where their mouth is and actually support men’s football.
“It’s easy to talk about how the men deserve equal pay and should get more attention, but unless people are actually turning out and tuning in for these games, the economic argument just doesn’t stack up,” said a local Football Australia employee.
“So if people want the boys to get a better run, then they need to support them properly.”
This comes after the Maletildas suffered a shock loss to Bahrain and drew 0-0 with an underrated Indonesian side, leaving their hopes of a World Cup hanging by a thread.
A win against China is pretty necessary now, with plenty of tough games to come in the qualification for the North American tournament in 2026.
“Look, how cool would it be if the boys can make a World Cup,” said the FA spokesperson.
“That’s something we can all get around I think!”
“So get around them and show them they are respected.”
“Let’s go boys.”
