The best little pub in the best little town on the Darling Downs is turning it on tonight, it can be confirmed.
That’s right, Allora’s fabled Railway Hotel will have the TV’s blaring at 4am tomorrow morning if you are in the area, or like, feel like popping in or whatever.
This comes as the little town 50 minutes south of Toowoomba prepares to cheer on their hometown hero Matthew Denny in the Paris Olympics.
Eclipsing Wayne Bennett and beef as Allora’s Number 1 product, Denny is spinning for Gold overnight in the Discus final.
The big fella qualified for the big show with the second biggest throw of the discus in the qualifying event – with many hopeful Matty can turn that 4th placed Tokyo finish into some precious metal.
One of the locals who’ll be emptying the lungs in the earlier hours of the morning said he cannot wait.
“Mate, doesn’t get much better than seeing our Matty on the big stage,” said Allora resident Warwick Holmes.
“He’s gone full Jason Statham with the dome, and that has to be a good sign for aerodynamics.”
“He’s the youngest of 8 siblings, Matty knows how to give his all,” laughed Holmes.
“Man, he coulda been an Origin great, I tell ya.”
“Allora just gets the Olympics. How’s Toowoomba going at the Olympics?” he laughed.
“Anyway, $15 parmy night at the Railway into Matty going for gold? Ahhhhhhh, yes please,” finished Holmes.
“Doesn’t get much better than that.”
“I guarantee you that no Olympic Live site will top the Railway tomorrow morning!”
More to come.
