The nation’s elderly folk, and elderly folk who don’t thing they are elderly folk, are this week facing a PR crisis.

This comes as calls grow around the country for a ban on anyone over the age of 60 from using social media.

The move has followed calls for kids to be banned from using social media before the age of 16.

While the proposed ban will apply to all forms of social media, it’s believed FB and TikyToky are the main focuses for the Boomers.

If brought into law by the government, the ban will prevent any use of a classified social media app by anyone who has had their 60th birthday.

Speaking to The Advocate about the ground breaking proposal, a spokesperson for Geriatric Health Australia said that the while the move is aimed at helping older Australians, it will also have serious flow on effects to broader society.

“It’s not good for anyone to have pop in the comment section of a Daily Mail article about an influencer being kicked off a plane for wearing a revealing outfit,” said the spokesperson.

“Let alone getting into the weeds of a comment section about a global conflict or societal issues.”

“Particularly for an older man, it can lead to alienation from friends, family and the broader community.”

“That leads to serious mental and physical side effects.”

“It’s the best thing for society overall.”

“We are calling for it to be brought in immediate effect.”

The nation’s older Australians have obviously voiced outrage at the proposal, given they don’t like being told what to do by anyone.

More to come.
